- Roy Rogers
(1911) - Rogers was born Leonard Slye in Ohio. As a teenager he headed to California where he worked as a fruit picker before forming the musical group Sons of the Pioneers. In his more than 60-year career, the famous cowboy played wild west characters ranging from Billy the Kid to Wild Bill Hickok. It's a well-known fact that Rogers stuffed his beloved horse Trigger when the steed died in 1965 -- but it's less well known that he used to joke he was going to do the same thing with his wife, Dale Evans. Rogers was born in 1911 not 1912 as incorrectly reported by some sources. He died on July 6, 1998.
- Ike Turner
(1931) - Turner's 13th wife, Jeanette, claims that when she met Ike in 1988, he was so poor they lived in a house with no electricity and were forced to heat canned food using blow torches. The musician was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame while riding out an 18-month jail sentence. Tina Turner divorced Ike in 1976. When together: "Proud Mary" (1971), "River Deep Mountain High" (1966)
- Elke Sommer
(1940) - The actress and former model's real last name is Schletz. Born in 1940 not 1941 or 1942.
- Art Garfunkel
(1941) - Musician with the 1960s duo Simon & Garfunkel. In 1981 half a million people jammed New York City's Central Park to listen to a Simon and Garfunkel reunion concert. When Simon and Garfunkel disbanded in 1970 part of the reason was Garfunkel's growing interest in acting. The first film he appeared in was 1970's Catch-22. Garfunkel has since appeared in five other motion pictures, the latest being 1998's 54. Many sources still confuse Garfunkel's birthday with Simon's, which is October 13.
- Sam Shepard

- Peter Noone
(1947) - 1960s singer with Herman's Hermits. Noone says most people don't remember that Herman's Hermits had 17 hits -- not just three. "People remember 'I'm Henry The Eighth, I Am,' 'I'm Into Something Good' and 'Mrs. Brown, You've Got A Lovely Daughter' but they don't realize we also did 'No Milk Today' and 'There's A Kind Of A Hush."' When the group first recorded "I'm Henry The Eighth, I Am," the musicians only knew the chorus. However, Noone got around that by improvising the line "Second verse, same as the first."

- Bill Walton
(1952) - Former basketball player.
- Jon-Erik Hexum
(1957) - The actor and model starred in the 1984 TV series Cover Up. He accidentally killed himself on the set of the show after he pointed a prop gun loaded with blanks at his head and pulled the trigger. It seems Hexum got bored during a delay in filming and jokingly placed the .44 magnum prop pistol to the right side of his head. The force from the explosive blank drove a piece of his skull the size of a quarter into his brain. He was 26 when he died on October 18, 1984. At his family's request, his corneas, heart and kidneys were donated for transplant. Born in 1957 not 1958.
- Bryan Adams
(1959) - Adams became the first Canadian artist to land four No. 1 hits on the Billboard chart. The tunes were "Have You Ever Really Loved A Woman?," "Heaven," "(Everything I Do) I Do It For You" and "All For Love." Oddly, each song was originally produced for a film soundtrack. "Have You Ever Really Loved A Woman" was written for the film Don Juan DeMarco; "Heaven" premiered in the film A Night In Heaven; "(Everything I Do) I Do It For You" was the love theme from Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves; and "All For Love' originated in Disney's The Three Musketeers. Adams is a vegetarian and pacifist who refused to allow the use of his song "Only the Strong Survive" in the 1986 flick Top Gun because he felt the movie glorified war. In 1987 Adams' "Heat Of The Night" was released as North America's first cassette single. Other Adams hits: "Run To You" (1984) "Cuts Like A Knife" (1983).
- Tatum O'Neal
