American Airlines allegedly racist towards singer Jason Derulo
MIAMI, FLORIDA (4E) -- Singer Jason Derulo , who is black, claims that the employees of American Airlines were racist and discriminatory against him and took to social media to talk about the issue.
Derulo took to Instagram to post a video of the incident. Accordingly, he and his entourage were set to travel from Miami to Los Angeles when they were racially profiled. In the caption, Derulo wrote, "I spent millions on your airline throughout the past ten years between myself and my entire staff but have still experienced racial discrimination today at miami airport!!! Called 15 police officers on me as if I'm a criminal!"
He also posted a video wherein he said there was a dispute regarding their luggage. They were told they had to pay $6,000 for the 19 pieces of luggage. However, they were no longer at the airport when they were called about the fee they had to pay. Derulo and his entourage had to disembark and the pilot used profanity to order them off of the plane.
Derulo said in the video, "The pilot comes and tries to make a scene. And he says 'I want these guys off the plane right now!'" Derulo continued, "I felt like he was trying to make it seem like we were delinquents, and he was kicking us off the plane, when it was us that asked to get off the plane. I was like, 'Listen, sir, you're not going to talk down to me; I'm not your son. Don't talk to me in that tone of voice.'"
15 cops were contacted and they were waiting for Derulo and his group once they were off the plane. Derulo continued to claim that if they did not know he was a celebrity, he would have been in jail. He concluded, "It's 100 percent racial." He also said he wants everybody to be treated with respect because people should get what they pay for.
American Airlines only released this statement on the matter: "A passenger elected to deplane in order to travel with their checked bags. The passenger was rebooked with his checked bags on a later flight Wednesday evening." The Miami Dade Police also said they had no incident report as there were no charges filed.
