| 2013-03-06 - Celebrity News Tina Fey, Amy Poehler respond to Taylor Swift's reaction over Golden Globes joke | ||
|
-- Paula David - Fourth Estate Cooperative Reporter Los Angeles, CA, United States (4E) - Shortly after the release of Taylor Swift's Vanity Fair interview Tuesday, where she disapproved of Tina Fey and Amy Poehler for poking fun at her at the recent Golden Globes, the surprised comediennes responded, saying the whole thing was said in jest. In the Vanity Fair interview, Swift said, "You know, Katie Couric is one of my favorite people... because she said to me she had heard a quote that she loved, that said, 'There's a special place in hell for women who don't help other women.'" Upon learning of the somewhat snide remark, Fey, 42, told Entertainment Tonight, "If anyone was going to get mad at us, I thought it would be James Cameron. I did not see that one coming. It was a joke. It was a lighthearted joke." Women's causes advocate told the Hollywood Reporter, "Aw, I feel bad if she was upset. I am a feminist, and she is a young and talented girl. That being said, I do agree I am going to hell. But for other reasons. Mostly boring tax stuff." This stemmed from a joke Fey and Poehler delivered when hosting the 2013 Golden Globe Awards last February. At one point, Fey told Swift, who was part of the audience, to "stay away from Michael J. Fox's son" because she needs "some 'me time' to learn about herself." Poehler slammed her co-host's 'advice' saying, "Or go for it!" The audience was clearly amused, judging from the roar of laughter that ensued.
