Los Angeles, CA, United States (4E) - Philip Seymour Hoffman is reported to have been offered the role of Plutarch Heavensbee in "The Hunger Games" sequel "Catching Fire," according to the Hollywood Reporter Tuesday.

Heavensbee's role was played by Wes Bentley in the first film. The offer was said to have surfaced upon Hoffman's leaving Paradigm, his agency for 18 years.

Lionsgate, on the other hand, did not give out a comment regarding the casting concern.

"Catching Fire" will be directed by Francis Lawrence and is set to begin production this September.
