German police try to identify 'Forest Boy' with photo

-- Windsor Genova - Fourth Estate Cooperative News Writer

Berlin, Germany (4E) - Berlin police have released a photo of the English-speaking teenage boy claiming to have been living in the woods for five years after his parents died last year in the hope that someone could identify him.

The boy named Ray and dubbed by the German media as "Forest Boy" walked for five days in the woods to reach Berlin and turned up at the city hall on Sept, 5, 2011 seeking help. He could only identify himself with his first name, his parents' first names and his birth date, June 20, 1994. He was carrying a tent and a backpack.

The boy told police his father died in August for reasons he could not explain while his mother died in a car accident earlier, but could not remember the details. Authorities tried to find the place in the forest where the boy buried his father but to no avail.

The boy's DNA had been compared with those from the list of international missing persons and his fingerprints even sent around the world to see if it match with someone else's fingerprints but nothing turned up, according to Berlin police spokesman Thomas Neuendorf.

Interpol is also helping in the investigation.

The Forest Boy stands 5 feet 11 inches tall, sports a dark blonde hair and has scars on his forehead, chin and right arm.
