Andy Samberg leaving SNL

-- Diane Alter - Fourth Estate Cooperative Reporter

New York, N.Y., United States (4E) - Funnyman Andy Samberg after seven years has ended his run on Saturday Night Live, his spokesperson confirmed Friday.

Samberg's exit follows that of fellow SNL cast member Kristin Wiig.

Samberg, like scores of other Saturday Night Live graduates, will transition to the big screen. Samberg will appear in the film "That's My Boy," starring Adam Sandler, out this month.

One particularly memorable SNL moment by Samberg featured him and Justin Timberlake in a musical skit about an X-rated gift in a box. The music video parody won an Emmy in 2007 for best original music and lyrics.

Meanwhile, Jason Sudeikis, who has also been rumored to leave SNL after this season as well, has been tight-lipped on whether he'll return.
