LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA (AHN) -- Pop star Britney Spears has been offered $10 million to join "X Factor" as a judge, according to numerous media reports.

While divas such as Janet Jackson and Mariah Carey have bowed out to replace ousted Nicole Scherzinger and Paula Abdul, the latest buzz has been focused on Spears.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Spears' fiance/agent Jason Trawick is set to ink the deal as early as next week.

Simon's Cowell's "X Factor" under performed in its first season. While the singing competition show turned in solid numbers, they were not the blockbuster numbers Cowell had predicted. As a result, he cleaned house and blew up the judging panel.

Rumors are swirling that joining Spears will be Canadian punk rocker Avril Lavigne.
