Reese Witherspoon to be Honored at 2011 MTV Movie Awards

(AHN Entertainment) -- On the heels of her wedding, Reese Witherspoon will be in the spotlight once again. The 2011 MTV Movie Awards will be giving Witherspoon the "MTV Generation Award."

Witherspoon is receiving this award because of her ability to perform as both a comedic and dramatic actress. Her first big films, such as "Fear," "Cruel Intentions," and "Pleasantville," put Witherspoon on the map, with hits like "Legally Blonde" and "Walk the Line" make her a household name.

MTV President Stephen Friedman says, "Reese Witherspoon is one of the most versatile and accomplished perfomers of her time." He remarks, "We are thrilled to honor Reese with this year's 'MTV Generation Award.'"

The "MTV Generation Award" is the highest honor a celebrity can receive at the awards show. Past winners include Ben Stiller, Tom Cruise, Sandra Bullock, and Mike Myers.

Tune into MTV this Sunday, June 5 at 9 p.m. ET for the 2011 MTV Movie Awards.
