Katharine McPhee, Sara Paxton To Star In "Shark Night 3D"

Los Angeles, CA, United States (AHN) -- After "Piranha 3D" took a decent enough bite out of the box office (and a sequel already greenlit), it looks like movie audiences are going to drown in even more eye-popping creature features. First up, "Shark Night 3D."

"Shark Night 3D" will be helmed by director David R. Ellis, who gave us the unfortunate "The Final Destination" and "Snakes on a Plane," which would have only been better had it been in 3D.

The plot goes something like this: a group of young vacationers spend a weekend at a lake house before they start to be attacked by sharks in the freshwater lakes, which are unleashed by the locals as part of a sick plan.

Like "Piranha 3D" which boasted a surprisingly impressive cast, "Shark Night 3D" will feature a decent roster of shark bait as well. Katharine McPhee ("The House Bunny"), Sara Paxton ("The Last House on the Left"), Joel David Moore ("Avatar"), Chris Carmack, Dustin Mulligan, Alyssa Diaz, and Sinqua Walls are all attached to star.

The film will begin shooting later this month in Louisiana, and will probably hit theaters around this time next year.
