Pakistani Lawyer Seeks Death Penalty For Facebook Founders

Islamabad, Pakistan (AHN) -- A Pakistani lawyer has petitioned the country's high court to charge the three founders of popular social networking site Facebook with the death penalty for blaspheming the Prophet Mohammad.

Mark Zuckerberg, Dustin Moskovitz and Chris Hughes were named respondents to the petition filed after Zuckerberg hosted a "Draw Muhammad" contest.

The petition cited Section 295-C of Pakistan's Penal Code as basis for the charges. The said section, 295-C, states that the "use of derogatory remark etc., in respect of the Holy Prophet, whoever by words, either spoken or written, or by visible representation, or by any imputation, innuendo, or insinuation, directly or indirectly, defiles the sacred name of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) shall be punished with death, or imprisonment for life, and shall also be liable for fine."

The petitioner, identified as Muhammad Azhar Sidiqque, wanted to see Zuckerberg arrested and imprisoned.

The Pakistani police are investigating the case and have yet to file charges.
