New York City, NY, United States (CNS) -- One popular comedian is getting further animated. New episodes of "The Ricky Gervais Show" are set to air on premium cable channel HBO. Based on the audio sketches of Gervais and collaborators Stephen Merchant and Karl Pilkington, the show originally aired via radio and Internet video podcast sources before being compiled into cartoon form for an HBO series, which first debuted on the network Feb. 19. Upcoming episodes include the same kind of features that the original version of "The Ricky Gervais Show" brought to popularity, such as the ongoing sketch "Monkey News," in which the stars recount quasi-fictitious stories involving primates with humorous results. Gervais, Merchant and Pilkington also discuss topics such as unlikely inventions they'd like to see created, such as a serum that ages dead people backward; regale viewers about shenanigans involving locales like a spa and an antique store; and perform the duty of answering fan mail, wherein Pilkington answers a fan's question about which of the "Top 50 Freaks of All Time" he would most like to meet. The show will air at 9 p.m. ET/PT Fridays, with upcoming episodes on March 5, 12, 19 and 26.
