London, United Kingdom (CNS) -- Comedian Steven Coogan is expecting a decision within the month on whether his creation of Alan Partridge will be making an appearance on the big screen. Coogan told the BBC: "This is kind of make or break. In a month it'll be very clear whether we're going to do it or not." Coogan's character Alan Partridge started life as a parody of a sports reporter on BBC Radio 4's On the Hour before moving to BBC Two's "The Day Today." However Coogan, 44, has said that he wouldn't go ahead with the movie version unless writers Armando Iannucci and Peter Baynham were involved. "You have to get all the right elements," Coogan said. "We're not going to do it unless we think we can do something really good." After Coogan's statement, Iannucci posted this comment on Twitter in response to the proposed film: "Thought I might add fuel to rumour-fires by saying [I have spent the] last few days plotting a Partridge story," he wrote. Coogan is currently starring in "Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief" as a narcissistic British rock star. Coogan said: "I got to wear snakeskin trousers which I wouldn't normally do. He's that kind of British rock star - that slightly androgynous thing that the Americans can't do.
