Los Banos, CA, United States (AHN) -- California authorities said a dog apparently shot her owner in the back as he was collecting decoy ducks while hunting in Los Banos.

Reports from the Merced County Sheriff's Department said the hunter was out with his Labrador retriever and a hunting buddy Saturday. He rested his shotgun down and proceeded to walk away, at which point the dog stepped on the shotgun, hitting the 53-year-old hunter in the upper back.

The man reportedly was treated at an area hospital and sent home.

There are no reported charges in the incident.
