Sandra Bullock, "Inglourious Basterds" Win At The SAG Awards

Los Angeles, CA, United States (CNS) -- Sandra Bullock has bested her peers at the Screen Actors Guild Awards on Saturday, including Meryl Streep, for the best actress trophy, while "Inglourious Basterds" took the night's highest award.

Bullock won for her role as Leigh Anne Tuohy for "The Blind Side," beating Meryl Streep ("Julie & Julia"), Helen Mirren ("The Last Station"), Carey Mulligan ("An Education"), and Gabourey Sidibe ("Precious: Based on the Novel 'Push' by Sapphire").

The actress, who was wearing a black Alexander McQueen dress with blue sequins embellishment around the shoulders, said as she received her trophy, "If this were only not televised so I could use the appropriate words I'm feeling right now."

"I am Sandra Bullock, and I'm an actor and I'm so proud to say that in a room full of faces that have inspired me and allowed me six years ago to say I'm gonna stop working because I wasn't doing good work, and audition again."

She also thanked her "really hot" husband Jesse James, who she said sits in a monkey suit but ends up getting Morgan Freeman's email at the end of the day.

"Inglourious Basterds" cast won for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture, with Christoph Waltz winning best supporting actor for his role as Col. Hans Landa in the film.

Cancer-stricken Michael C. Hall won best actor drama for his titular role in the Showtime series "Dexter," while Julianna Margulies won the female counterpart for her role as Alicia Florrick in "The Good Wife."

Betty White was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award for her over six decades of a prosperous career. Bullock, who joked that she finds the 88-year-old actress "annoying," presented the award.

The 16th Annual SAG Awards was held at the Shrine Exposition Center in Los Angeles and was broadcast live by TNT and TBS.
