![]() Paris, France (CNS) -- Roman Polanski has won a small victory from the media. A Paris court has ordered a French newspaper to pay the "Rosemary's Baby" filmmaker after it took his photograph while under house arrest in his Swiss chalet. The 76-year-old Oscar-winning director was awarded 3,000 euros [$4,300] damages after Aujourd'hui en France was found guilty of breaching his privacy and the right to the use of his image. The paper printed pictures of him and his family at their country house in Gstaad. The court sided with Polanski and rejected the paper's argument that the photographs were newsworthy, saying the accompanying report did not justify their publication without the permission of those photographed.. He and wife Emmanuelle Singer originally asked for 40,000 euros [$57,500]. They are also seeking another 75,000 [$108,000] against three other French papers. Polanski is currently under house arrest for having unlawful sex with a 13-year-old girl in California more than three decades ago. He is facing possible extradition to the U.S.
