George Clooney To Host MTV Telethon For Haiti

Los Angeles, CA, United States (CNS) -- George Clooney is set to host a telethon to raise money for the earthquake victims in Haiti. The A-list celebrity is working with MTV Networks on the event, which will feature stars asking their fans to donate.

Clooney, 48, is in the process of helping organize the telethon, which has a tentative airing date of January 22 on all MTV channels.

Not much is revealed about the event. Various celebrities have already pledged donations and asked fans for urgent contributions, but no name has been confirmed to join Clooney on the telethon yet.

Haiti-born Wyclef Jean has been asking fellow celebrities to shell out amount for the tragedy-stricken island, which left an estimated 50,000 dead.

Brangelina also contributed to the cause, pledging $1 million through their Jolie-Pitt Foundation to Doctors Without Borders. Lance Armstrong's LiveStrong Foundation also donated $250,000 to help the country.
