'We Hear You' Is Top Political Catchphrase Of Decade

Austin, TX, United States (AHN) -- 'We hear you!,' former U.S. president George W. Bush's remark among the rubble at Ground Zero, has been named the Top Political Buzzword or Catchphrase of the decade 2000-2009 by the Global Language Monitor.

The buzzword made in 2001 topped the GLM's list after it tracked the frequency of words and phrases in the global print and electronic media, on the Internet, throughout the blogosphere and social media, and on proprietary databases.

Other catchphrases of the decade in the GLM's top 20 list are:

Global warming/climate change (2000), War on terror (2001), Weapons of mass destruction (2002), Embedded (2003),Shock and awe (2003)The audacity of hope (2007), Economic meltdown/financial tsunami (2008), and Obamamania (2008).GLM analyzes and catalogues the latest trends in word usage and word choices, and their impact on the various aspects of culture.
