![]() Los Angeles, CA (CNS) -- Apocalyptic film "2012" makes 2009 its year at the box office. The Sony Pictures sci-fi film garnered $65 million at the box office during its opening weekend, and marched past $225 million for its first five days in the big screen. The Roland Emmerich film - starring John Cusack and Amanda Peet - marks Sony's #1 North American film for this year. It grossed $23.6 million on its opening day Friday in the U.S. and $160 million in international receipts from Wednesday through Sunday. Jim Carrey's "A Christmas Carol" is still holding fairly well in its second week. It grosses another $22.3 million at the big screen, down 26 percent from its debut. Also, Michael Jackson's "This Is It" grossed another $5.1 million, now boasting $222 million in its haul.
