San Francisco, CA (AHN) -- As fast as they could thumb-type 140 characters, officials at Twitter have denied that the company is developing a TV show based on the social media site. "Just to be clear, Twitter is not making a television show," the company wrote on its blog Tuesday. "Some Hollywood folks are developing something that leverages Twitter and they are extremely enthusiastic as evidenced by all the media hubbub yesterday and today. We have little to do with their efforts but we wish them success." Rumors of the television show quickly made the rounds of the Internet after a report in Variety on Monday. The magazine said that Twitter had "partnered with Reveille and Brillstein Entertainment to develop an unscripted TV skein described as "putting ordinary people on the trail of celebrities in a revolutionary competitive format." Novelist and screenwriter Amy Ephron was reported to be executive producer of the series. Both production companies are well-known to tube watchers. Reveille has developed a number of successful shows including "The Office" and "Ugly Betty," while Brillstein is responsible for shows such as "The Sopranos" and "According to Jim." In an earlier blog post Monday, Twitter said "we have a lightweight, non-exclusive, agreement with the producers which helps them move forward more freely."
