Moncton, Canada (AHN) -- Sexual tension between two lions at a Canada zoo led to violence and now a move. An 11-year-old female lion is being relocated from the Magnetic Hill Zoo after she attacked a young male lion that didn't understand her sexual needs. The general manager of the zoo, Bruce Dougan, told the Canadian Broadcasting Company that in 39 years of working with lions, he'd never seen one lion hate another so intensely. The zoo introduced two cubs - Azizi, a male, and Amara, a female - to keep lioness Kito company after she became depressed following the death of her longtime male companion, Marshall, in January. At first the cub and lioness got along well, but after Kito went into heat, problems started up, the CBC reported. Azizi didn't know his role in helping Kito out with her needs, so the zoo gave Kito an implant to prevent her from going into heat. But a woman scorned doesn't forget, and her sexual frustration turned to violence when she attacked the young male. Dougan told the CBC the best thing for all the animals will be if Kito is returned to the zoo in Ontario where she was born, where she'll head later this month. Currently, the animals are separated in adjacent quarters at the zoo.
