| 2009-10-29 - Weird News AHN Staff Ex Quebec Lieutenant Governor Files Not Guilty Plea To 6 Charges | ||
|
Quebec City, Quebec (AHN) -- Former Quebec Lieutenant-Governor Lise Thibault entered on Tuesday a not guilty plea for six charges of fraud, forgery and breach of trust leveled against her. According to the auditor generals of Quebec and Canada, Thibault spent about $700,000 without justification. Her lawyer, Michel Massicotte, entered the plea on behalf of Thibault, who is a paraplegic and wheelchair bound. The auditors' reports accused Thibault - who was Quebec lieutenant governor from 1997 to 2007 - of claiming $700,000 expenses unrelated to her function. It includes travels, meals, ski and golf lessons, and transport of special golf carts from Quebec to Florida. Thibault explained the high expenses to her being a paraplegic, which required different travel and security arrangements.
