Miramar, FL (AHN) -- Broward County police are looking for a man who they say shot a woman after she refused to give him her phone number. The Sun-Sentinel reported Friday that on 3 a.m. on Aug. 26 Vernice Morris, 23, was leaving a club when a man she didn't know pulled up to her in a black Lexus SUV and asked for her phone number. When she refused, the man followed her to where her car was parked and asked again. Morris still said no. She told police that he said he was insulted, and bragged about other cars he had. He spoke in a Jamaican accent. When she continued to refuse to give him her phone number, she said he told her, "people like you, I put a gunshot in your chest." Morris told reporters she didn't really believe him. When she pulled away in her Acura Sedan, the man followed, eventually pulling next to her at a stop light. That's when he shot her, twice in the stomach and once in the left wrist. Morris said she felt the "burn," but it didn't register that she'd been shot. Finally, she lost control of her vehicle, crashing the car, and emergency workers took her to the hospital. She was treated and released. The man who shot her was driving a 2007 or 2008 black Lexus RX 350 SUV. Police told reporters they consider him very dangerous and violent.
