Clio, Mich. -- Police were startled to find a 13-year old boy in the driver's seat of a car stuck in the mud at a local park. The father was sitting in the passenger's seat, and both seemed to be drunk. The boy's 41-year old father explained to the police that he let his son drive the vehicle, as he had too much to drink and was incapable of operating the truck. James McLellan, chief of the Clio Police Department, said, "(The boy) even said he didn't want to drive because he was too drunk." Officials stated that upon investigation, open alcohol containers were found inside the vehicle. The father was charged with misdemeanor charges such as child endangerment, allowing an unlicensed minor to drive, and allowing an intoxicated person to drive, reported the Associated Press. The boy is set to go to juvenile court and face several charges, including driving while intoxicated. "This is not your typical event," the Flint Journal quoted McLellan. "Most parents are more responsible in my experience. The father definitely has some serious issues to address. Hopefully, they can get it worked out in the (court) system."
