Hong Kong, China -- Two demonstrators who carried banners protesting unjust labor practices by Walt Disney during a parade at Disneyland in Hong Kong were arrested. Hong Kong police spokeswoman Celia Tam identified the two suspects by last name, Yau and Lai, and said they had disrupted the parade and fought with park workers who tried to stop them. Their banners said "Disney exploits Chinese labor." Tam said the two protesters were arrested for disorder in a public place, but were not immediately charged, both were released on bail. Glendy Chu, Hong Kong Disneyland spokesperson said the protesters violated park guidelines on maintaining order. Two protesters were members of Students and Scholars Against Corporate Misbehavior, a Hong Kong activist group which has accused Disney suppliers in China of overworking their employees and skimping on pay and benefits. However, Disney maintains that it adheres to China's labor standards.
