-- A man was awarded $122,400 in court Friday for a bite on his hand that got so infected he had to stay in the hospital for three weeks. The owner of the cat, Jean Toney, was the sister of the defendant, Michael Sabo. According to Sabo's lawyer, Tom Pabst, Sabo had to pay thousands of dollars in medical bills after the cat lept into his lap and bit his right hand in 2004, causing an infection that left his fingers looking like "plump hot dogs." Sabo attempted to get Toney's Farm Bureau Insurance homeowner's policy to pay for the treatment of his injury, but his request was denied. Sabo decided to sue. Pabst said the company will now have to shell out the money for Sabo's medical bills, lost income and compensation for pain and suffering. Pabst said the ordeal has created tension between Sabo and his sister. "(Toney) loves the cat," AP quotes Pabst as saying. "He's named after her dead husband."
