Mother Leaves Her Kids In Car In Freezing Temperature To Go To Tanning Salon

-- A Sheboygan mother is expected to be charged with two counts of misdemeanor child neglect for allegedly leaving her two children in a freezing car for 20 minutes while she went tanning.

Police arrested the 27-year-old woman after two people spotted the children, ages 23 months and 10 years, in the car that was locked but not running.

According to AP reports, the incident took place Wednesday when the children's father met the mother at the tanning salon. He was arguing with her about why the children were left in the car.

Police reports say that though the children were dressed warmly, they had "goose bumps" from the cold. The temperature at the time was 12 degrees, with a wind chill index of about minus 2 degrees. The two kids did not require medical attention.

Lt. Jeff Johnston said Friday that the woman, who was leaving for vacation felt that the tanning was more of a priority than her children.
