Sydney, Australia (AHN) -- A drunk tourist swimming in a river in Queensland, was attacked by a crocodile and was able to stave it off. Shockingly after emerging from the river after a fierce fight with the reptile, he fell asleep at his campsite because he had too many drinks prior. According to a local newspaper, Matt Martin sustained gashes to his face after the encounter. The injuries to is face required around 40 stitches however things may have been worst because he drank 12 cans of beer. Martin, who is from Newscastle, said he slept for seven hours before going to the hospital, admitting that he was "pretty messed up" before he went to sleep. When he woke up and got to the hospital, he was bleeding profusely and had to cover his face with a blanket. Crocodile attacks are not uncommon in Australia, especially since the country provides protection to these reptiles. However, they also occur in other places around the globe. Just last April, a crocodile bit off the arm of a Taiwanese veterinarian after the latter tried to retrieve a tranquilizer dart from the animal.
