New York, NY (AHN) -- A couple seeking a comfortable ride for their cats and cabbie in the pursuit of good memories have come along for a 2,400 mile ride across several states to reach Arizona. After their retirement Betty and Bob Matas had decided to move to Arizona, but like many New Yorkers the couple do not drive causing them to worry about the comfortable transportation of their beloved cats. The couple, however, found the solution to their problem several weeks ago during a round of shopping trip when they jokingly asked the cabbie they hailed whether he will be interested in making the long trip. Eventually the gag turned serious and the couple decided to go with it and along came Douglas Guldeniz, the Manhattan cabbie in his yellow Ford Escape. Guldeniz will be driving 10 hours a day for a flat fee of $3,000, plus gas, meals and lodging, according to New York Daily news reports. Although the metered fare to Sedona, Ariz. will cost about $5,000 each way, Guldeniz say it is worth it to "have some good memories."
