Western Isles, Scotland (AHN) -- BBC viewers in Scotland have created a storm over a weatherman's alleged description of their town as "nowheresville" during a television broadcast. During two separate weather bulletins, Tomasz Schafenaker said there would be rain in the northwest of Scotland, adding that it would be "mainly in the Western Isles, mainly in nowheresville." Scottish BBC viewers were not too kind in responding to Schafenaker's description of their hometown. According to Ananova, Western Isles MP Angus MacNeil said he has been overwhelmed with angry complaints following the weatherman's remarks. He said one complainer described Schafernaker's comment as "insulting, ignorant and self-satisfied." Mr MacNeil said, "I think this is symptomatic of the wider attitude the BBC have of the hiding of Scotland - they seem to have stopped reporting on the geographical entirety of the UK." Schafernaker has made an official statement apologizing for making Scottish viewers angry with his comments. "My intention was only to convey that very few people were likely to catch a shower on that day," he says, Ananova reports. "It was in no way a comment or opinion on the area or the people that live there. I deeply regret my choice of words and fully understand why it offended viewers."
