Britain's Unluckiest Man Falls In Manhole

Yorkshire, England -- John Lyne, who is acclaimed as the "unluckiest" man in Britain, is again in the hospital, this time after falling into a manhole. The 54-year-old man has already had 16 major accidents including two lightning strikes, a rock-fall in a mine, nearly drowning and three car crashes.

Lyne, of Stainforth, near Doncaster, Yorkshire is expected to spend 32 weeks to recuperate from his latest misfortune.

The Doncaster Free Press said the fall damaged his back and injured his left leg and both knees, on top of a lifetime of broken bones. Surprisingly, Lyne said he was not bitter of his latest accident, and was just glad to be alive.

He said, "Everyone thinks it is just hilarious. My mates, family and wife Susan just laugh about it. I don't think there is any reason or explanation for it though, it has just happened really. I have to particularly be careful on the Friday 13ths, when a few accidents have fallen."

Lyne's mishaps cover a lifetime. As a child, he fell off a horse and cart, only to be run over by a delivery van.

He broke his arm when he fell off a tree when he was a teenager. And while on his way back from the hospital, the bus he was riding crashed which broke the same arm in another place.

The incident occurred on a Friday the 13th.
