-- A woman who tried to buy chips and cigarettes at a gas station with a phony $20 bill was caught when the clerk turned it over and found that it was blank on the other side. Leah R. Jarolink, 21, was charged with a felony count of forgery, according to a complaint filed Friday in Sheboygan County Circuit Court. The cashier, Teresa Wells, said Jarolink put the bill face up on the counter. She said it felt suspicious when she picked it up, and when she flipped it over she found it was blank. Jarolink then told Wells she didn't know the bill was a fake, according to the complaint. Wells said she told Jarolink she had to pay for the chips, which had already been opened, and copied Jarolink driver's license information while she went to her car to get money. Now Jarolink faces up to three years in prison and a fine of $10,000 if she's convicted.
