Yorkshire, England -- A 15-year-old girl in Britain has reportedly given birth in West Yorkshire in front of teachers and classmates at her catholic school after being unaware of her pregnancy. The unidentified pupil, who is studying for her GCSEs at St Joseph's Catholic College in Bradford, West Yorkshire, went into labor at the start of the school day on Friday.

The school staff called for the paramedics but the labor had progressed too far to move her to hospital.

According to John Grady, spokesman for the Catholic Diocese of Leeds, "Every help is being given to the mother and child and to the immediate family of those concerned."

"At this time we hope that everyone will give all of them time to adjust to the new circumstances and allow space for them to make plans for the future," he added.

Daily Mail U.K. reports that the head teacher had a meeting with girl's mother and preparations had already been made for the girl to return to school and continue with her education.

St Joseph's is an all-girl Roman Catholic comprehensive school with about 1,000 pupils located near the Bradford city center.

The gender of the baby has not yet been revealed but the authorities have said that the mother and baby are both doing "OK."
