Saukaser, Austria -- A 45-year-old tightrope walker has established a new world record by balancing on a cable car wire some 1,300 foot about the ground at an Alpine valley.
German Falko Traber walked the distance of 500 foot on the 1.6-inch thick cable car wire above the Saukser Valley in Austria.
Traber is a member of the famous Traber tightrope-walking dynasty which has been performing since the 14th century. He already holds a number of tightrope world records.
Earlier this year, his 22-year-old nephew, Johann, hit the headlines when he fell during a balancing act on a high mast in Hamburg, Germany. He is currently recovering after spending months in a coma.
