San Paulo, Brazil -- Two confessed killers are on the loose in Brazil so they can have the freedom to vote in a recent election.
A man who confessed to raping and stoning to death five women as well as a man who confessed to hiring the hit man who killed his mother were released five days before the country's elections. Police have begun hunting them down but had to wait 48 hours after the polls closed as Brazilian law states.
The law states that police must release any prisoner who was not caught in the act or who has not been sentenced. General elections were held Sunday.
Spokeswoman for the Sao Paulo security secretariat Camilla Silveira told Reuters, "We will begin looking for him again after 5:00 p.m. He had confessed to the killings but Brazilian law required we release him."
Two of the women Edson Barbosa Alves de Matos, 25, had confessed to killing have been identified. The other three have been uncovered but their identities are still unknown.
Adriano Saddi Lima Oliveira, 23, told police he had paid $18,433 to have his mother killed because she was spending his inheritance money.
