London, England -- A British policeman was named Mr. Gay U.K. 2006 in a ceremony recently.

Reports said that PC Mark Carter, 23, bested other homosexuals including a town planner and a sailor and was voted as Britain's sexiest gay at the Blackpool's Flamingo Club.

Aside from the crown and sash, Mark also won some $9,433.

The Bradford policeman said, "I am absolutely over the moon. Two years ago I used to cry myself to sleep at night, I was so daunted by the prospect of coming out.

"But when I did it was the best thing ever. I was finally myself."

Surprisingly, his colleagues from the West Yorkshire Police was very supportive of the policeman during the event.
