Helsinki, Finland -- Anyone longing to throw away their mobile can do it in style and may even win a medal. Such a feat of unusual athleticism, "Mobile Phone Throwing" World Championship, was held in Finland over this weekend. The contestants were supplied with the old phones, allowed to pick up one of their choice and asked to throw. There were four competition categories: men, women, juniors and freestyle. The winner in the men's categories threw his phone 292 feet and the women's winner tossed her phone 167 feet, a new world record according to the organizers. She said she has tossed a cell phone a time or two before. Another contestant said there were three things required to badge a win: technical skills, power, and a sense of humor.
