Amsterdam, The Netherlands (AHN) -- A Dutch architect is claiming to have invented the first ever floating bed. Janjaap Ruijssenaar, the designer and inventor of the floating bed, said he is selling his creation for $1.53 million. According to ananova.com, it took Ruijssenaar six years to complete his project. He uses magnets that were installed into the floor and the bottom of the bed to keep it afloat. Thin steel cables were attached on the bed to keep it in place. However, he advises that people with a piercing should not get between the bed and the floor because the magnet could attract the metal piercing. He said he decided to design the floating bed after watching the Stanley Kubrick's movie "2001: A Space Odyssey." Although he admits there are still some problems with his project. "It's lacking a bit of comfort," says Ruijssenaar.
