Manila, Philippines (AHN) -- Vanity is a necessity among flight attendants and they have to look good even while fighting terror. Superintendent Rizalino Roxas, in charge of police and intelligence operations at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport in the Philippines said Monday all airline crews, particularly flight attendants, were exempted from the "no liquid, no gel" ban being enforced at the airport on all U.S.-bound passengers and U.S. carriers. He told the Philippine Daily Inquirer, "They are always expected to look their best, even at this time when everybody is security conscious." The Philippine government imposed a total ban on liquid, gel and other liquid substance on U.S.-bound passengers and U.S. carriers and all mass transit methods following the discovery of new terror plans uncovered by British authorities that detailed terrorist groups aiming blow up air planes in mid-air while en route to the United States. British intelligence say the terrorist plans of blowing up trans-Atlantic flights with the use of liquid-based explosives. "The grooming kits of their cabin crew were raised by airline officials during one of our security meetings," Roxas said. "The airlines said they would be responsible for their own crew." Passengers on regional flights would be allowed to buy liquids, gels, and other liquid products at the NAIA duty free shops but they have to keep them in their hand-carried luggages.
