Smelling The Greed Of '80s Music Inspires Modern Rockers Gomez

Los Angeles, CA -- Inspiration can strike a musician in many ways, but for the English modern rock band Gomez, it comes in the form of a 80s music compilation tape.

Band singer Ian Ball confesses that before each concert the members of Gomez love to listen to a CD of 1980s hits by bands like Foreigner and Journey.

As he puts it, "We like it because it's bombastic. You can smell the greed."

Now, the band hopes to smell some of its own greed. Starting next month, Gomez will be touring the West coast in order to work on new material and to film scenes for an upcoming concert DVD.

As he puts it, "We want to warm up before we go in the studio" and predicts the new songs have a different vibe than the last CD, "Split The Difference."

In his words, "It's more laid-back and less violent."
