American Housewives Are Marthas, Roseannes, Annettes Or Debras

Chicago, IL -- When it comes to making a house a home, housewives fall into four categories.

According to a new survey by Leo Burnett advertising, 37 percent are "house proud" women like Martha Stewart, who consider homemaking a source of personal, pride and joy.

However, 29 percent are like Roseanne's sitcom character and consider housecleaning a burden in an already overburdened life.

Twelve percent of housewives insist on "keeping up with the Jones" and making their home into a status symbol like Annette Bening's character in "American Beauty."

Finally, 22 percent of women are "Keep-It-Simple" types like Debra Barone on "Everybody Loves Raymond" and insist on realistic, practical home standards.
