Daly Vs. Dick: The Battle Of The Network New Year's Eve Specials

New York, NY -- There will be a new kid on the block on TV during the New Year's celebration: Carson Daly.

Daly will be hosting "NBC's New Year's Eve With Carson Daly" live from Rockefeller Center, and he describes the show as "smarter than "TRL," but cooler than Dick Clark."

But he's not dissing Dick: Daly says he immediately called Clark to wish him well after hearing of his recent stroke. Daly says it was "great to hear" Clark was doing well.

In deference to Clark, he says "Clark has a 28 years head start and I have a lot of catching up to do."

In addition, Conan O'Brian and Brian Williams, the new host of "NBC's Nightly News" will be joining Daly to ring in the new year.

Daly's special airs 10:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.
