Christmas Carolers Singing To The Beat Of A Different Drum

New York, NY -- If Christmas carolers come knocking at your door, be sure to listen closely to the lyrics of their song.

They could be singing classic carols with naughty re-written verses such as "Silent Wife" or "O Holy Fight."

"New York Daily News" Op-Ed columnist Lenore Skenazy is the lyricist behind the book "Dysfunctional Family Christmas Songbook" (Random House).

She took the tunes of songs like "Hark the Herald Angels Sing" and reworked them into "The Farting Song" with lyrics: "Fart goes Cousin Harold's tooter/ Loud enough to break a glass/ He's just like a salad shooter/ When it comes to passing gas."

Skenazy insists the songbook didn't stem from her own dysfunctional family, although "The Farting Song" was inspired by raising her two young sons, ages six and eight.

Skenazy says there just might be a rash of kids sneaking in her new naughty lyrics while out caroling or in church. She says the reverend will have to watch everyone's lips and "see who's singing to the beat."
