New Hanukkah Song Hot As A Menorah On Airwaves

Los Angeles, CA -- A Jewish rapper's Hanukkah song is "hot like a menorah" on radio airwaves.

Eric "Smooth-E" Schwartz's parody of OutKast's "Hey Ya!" is called "Hanukkah Hey Ya!" and is gaining a lot of popularity, even beating out Adam Sandler's famed "The Chanukah Song" on some radio stations.

Some lyrics include: "I love to light menorahs/" "And the matzah balls are cooking on the stove"/ Flames high to light the ceiling/" "But the candle dripping's burning me right now".

The 29-year-old says response to the song from the Jewish community has been "all positive" and he figures that's because "humor is such a big part of Jewish culture."

Schwartz -- who is also a comedian -- says he's trying to prove hip hop and Hebrew go hand and hand.

For instance, "Oy" is "yo" backwards and "Kaballah" is "Hallabak" in reverse.

The song can be found on Schwartz's debut album, "Kosher Nuts," which includes Jewish-oriented parodies of songs by rappers Eminem and Chingy.
