'Erin Brockovich' Cinematographer Shoots Films Using Camera Phones

New York, NY -- The man who shot the Oscar-winning film "Erin Brockovich" has found a new tool for telling stories onscreen: The camera phone.

Cinematographer Ed Lachman recently completed five short videos shot entirely using Motorola V710 camera phones.

Each of the two-minute documentaries used six cameras set at different angles to capture a person telling a true story about their cell phone -- such as the guy whose phone blocked a bite from an over-excited Rottweiler.

Lachman says his cell phone filming style -- which projects all six images at once -- was inspired by early still camera motion studies and Cubist artists.

He figures there will be more movies shot on camera phones in the future, but as for his own work, he says, "I still like film for a movie theater."
