Culinary Kids Turn Up The Heat In The Kitchen

New York, NY -- Later today (Oct. 13) in New York, five youngsters ages eight to 11 will be whipping up something from the oven -- the Easy-Bake Oven, that is.

They'll be vying for the title of "Chef of the Year" when they whip up an original recipe for a panel of judges.

Executive chef Brooke Vosika of the Four Seasons Hotel in New York will be one of the judges of the contest, and he says that little cakes tend to be the most typical dish made.

But he says kids are being more adventurous and bringing regional foods to competition, like Key Lime pie from Florida.

The Easy-Bake chefs will have their dishes judged on flavor, presentation and difficulty, and the winning boy or girl will have an original dish named for them on the Four Seasons kid's menu and will win $5000 in savings bonds.

Regardless of the tiny portions, Vosika says all the judges leave the table full.
