|
Ocho Rios, Jamaica -- The Jamaicans at a hotel in Ocho Rios are lending their paper-rolling expertise to tourists who crave a buzz. But the Bob Marley-loving hosts at the Royal Plantation aren't teaching guests to roll joints, just cigars. Once a week, a woman from the island shows tourists how to wrap Cuban and Jamaican cigars, which can cost $10 to $30 per cigar. Sometimes the instructor will give one person hands on experience by pulling them from the audience to assist her in rolling the cigar, but a spokesperson for the hotel says, "For the most part, she just shows you how to roll it." Although you can purchase a Cuban made by the woman or buy the stogies you make yourself, the spokesperson says the hotel frowns upon you taking Cuban cigars back to the U.S., but has no problem with you taking as much Jamaican tobacco back as you would like.
