Sherman, TX -- Sending corporate employees to ropes courses is out: Today's execs are driving tanks. That's according to Texas millionaire David Estes, who sold his energy company and in April combined his love of tanks with his wife's knack for leadership training into a corporate training battlefield called Tactical Tanks. Estes has 25 tanks -- ranging from five to 55 tons -- and 15 support vehicles located on 265 acres in Sherman, Texas. He puts corporate employees in the tanks where they take turns as commander, navigator and driver. On top of that, Estes says he interjects "chaos, miscommunication, disinformation and ambiguity" to see how the suits can adapt to the situation. In his words, "Every business manager should have a contingency plan." The environment can become frustrating if you don't communicate well, he admits. For example, he says one boss with a communication problem ordered his female employee, named Ngoc, to drive through a gate. However, he neglected to tell her the gate was closed before she plowed through it. Now that gate is known as Ngoc Gate.
