Berkeley, CA -- Fans and critics of John Kerry and Lynne Cheney are doing their best to hunt down copies of controversial books the two were involved with -- sometimes paying thousands of dollars for them. According to a newly-released report by Bookfinder.com, an online book database, a Lynne Cheney-written 1981 novel, called "Sisters," and a Kerry-edited 1971 book, "The New Soldier," are among the most sought after out-of-print books. "The New Soldier" (Simon & Schuster), which contains the candidate's views on the Vietnam War, ranks No. 2 in popularity for out-of-print nonfiction titles. However, that popularity has yielded a hefty price tag for the tome: On some web sites, the book is fetching thousands of dollars per copy. Meanwhile, tongues are wagging about Cheney's book, "Sisters "(Penguin Group), a novel about 19th century feminist pioneers which deals in part with lesbian relationships. It the No. 1 most sought after out-of-print fiction title and fetching thousands of dollars from those curious about Mrs. Cheney's take on gay and lesbian issues.
