Songs To Snip Hair To

Ventura, CA -- Hairdressers across America are getting their own soundtrack for snipping hair.

The CEO of John Paul Mitchell Systems has partnered with the Audio Fidelity record label to create music compilations specifically geared to stylists.

The first CD in from the Salon Sounds line is currently on sound systems at 10,000 salons across the U.S. and contains a hodge-podge of country, lounge music and singer-songwriter tunes.

For instance, crooner Wynonna contributes her version of the Foreigner hit, "I Want To Know What Love Is," while Tom Jones covers Three Dog Night's soulful jam, "Mama Told Me (Not To Come)."

There are also tracks from Norah Jones, Ronnie Isley & Burt Bacharach and 1980s power ballad pro Richard Marx.

Audio Fidelity president Marshall Blonstein, who partnered with the haircare giant to create the music line, says future CDs will be more genre-oriented, including rap -- which some stylists use by snipping to the beat.
