Portland, OR -- Gemstone therapy may make some athletes at this year's Olympics green with envy.

The company Gemisphere says many athletes from England, Sweden and America are using gem therapy in the form of a green tourmaline necklace to get an energy and performance boost.

Company gem therapist Katie Downing claims the stone's natural energy vibration enhances a wearer's strength and endurance and lowers recovery time when worn.

According to Downing, swimmers Mark Foster and Therese Alshammar both use the necklaces. She says other athletes use it too but are keeping quiet about it so they can have a competitive edge.

But Downing says the necklaces are easily identifiable and says look for athletes wearing the dark green choker with the tourmaline stones that wrap around it completely.
